This is a personal stylized female character project inspired by a 2D illustration I found on Pinterest. The reference immediately caught my eye thanks to its strong shape language, clear silhouette, and charming personality, and I knew right away I wanted to bring her into 3D.
My main goal with this project was to focus on character appeal while translating a 2D design into a full 3D character. Since the original illustration only showed part of the body, I designed and developed the lower half myself, choosing a simple and elegant solution that felt natural for the character and stayed true to the original style.
This project was also a great opportunity for me to get back into ZBrush and Substance Painter after not using them for a while in my day-to-day work, and to refresh my full character pipeline from sculpt to final render. The character was sculpted in ZBrush, retopologized and unwrapped, textured in Substance Painter, and rendered in Maya.
I really enjoyed working on this character. I love creating stylized characters with strong personality, attitude, and clean shape design, and this project allowed me to explore all of that in a complete and polished piece.
